RESUMO
O presente estudo teve por objetivo conhecer a relação da população do município de São Paulo com as plantas cultivadas em seus quintais. Para isso foi investigada a presença de quintais, finalidades do cultivo de recursos vegetais, a percepção dos moradores em relação aos quintais, a diversidade vegetal, a sabedoria popular em relação à utilização e aplicação das plantas medicinais, além do perfil sócio ambiental da população. A população estudada reside na região pertencente às subprefeituras dos distritos Penha e Cidade Tiradentes, localizados na Região Leste do Município de São Paulo. Foram visitadas 443 residências, porém, apenas 122 mulheres aceitaram participar deste estudo. Há presença de quintal nas residências e cultivo de plantas nos quintais, sendo a maioria ornamental, seguida por medicinais e alimentares. Os moradores relacionam os quintais com o cultivo de plantas. As famílias de plantas mais encontradas nos quintais são Asteraceae, Araceae e Lamiaceae.
ABSTRACT
The present study aimed at determining the relationship between the population of São Paulo and plants grown in their backyards. The presence of backyards, purposes of growing plant resources, perception of residents in relation to backyards, plant diversity, folk wisdom regarding the use and application of medicinal plants were investigated, besides the socio environmental profile of the population. The population resides in the region belonging to the districts of Penha and Cidade Tiradentes, located in the Eastern Region of São Paulo. 443 homes were visited, however, only 122 women agreed to participate in this study. There are cultivation of plants in backyards, mostly ornamental, followed by medicinal and food. Locals relate the yards with plant cultivation. The plant families found in most backyards are Asteraceae, Lamiaceae and Araceae.
