ABSTRACT
@#Objective To investigate the mechanism of olfactory impairment in 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6 tetrahydropyridine (MPTP)-treated mice. Methods Mice were treated with MPTP,the olfactory changes and their related mechanism in MPTP-treated mice were observed by behavioral, immunohistochemical and western blot methods. Results The results from praxiology experiment showed that the olfactory function of MPTP-treated mice was decreased, while the results from related immunohistochemistry and western blot showed that the number of dopaminergic neuron in the olfactory bulb of MPTP-treated mice was increased. Conclusion The olfactory dysfunction in MPTP-treated mice was associated with an increase in the number of olfactory bulb DA neurons.
