ABSTRACT
This article discusses the teachers' role in guiding the studentslearning strategies in the different periods of English learning and how to guide them. It points out that teachers should guide the students to use metacognitive strategy to plan, manage, arrange and evaluate their English learning according to the different goals and requirements in each learning period. They should also help the students use cognitive approach to analyze and sum up the language rules, and train them to acquire the ability to get the information quickly and to communicate well.
