ABSTRACT

AIM: To investigate the expression of mitog en -activated protein kinase phosphatase-1 (MKP-1) in cardiac ventricle muscles of spontane ously hypertensive rats and Wistar Kyoto rats at different ages and the relati onship between MKP-1 and myocardial hypertrophy. METHODS: The ratio of left ventricle weight to body weight (LVW/ BW) was measured to reflect myocardial hypertrophy. Protein expression of p-ERK was detected by Western blotting.
