ABSTRACT
OBJECTIVE To compare different methods of processing of homograft costal cartilage. METHODS Homograft costal cartilage samples were processesd by three methods-irradiation, freezing, and alcohol fixation-before being inserted into the rabbit nasal dorsum. They were taken out 12 weeks later and evaluated for histological responses under a optical microscope. RESULTS The histological responses consisted of inflammatory cell infiltration, necrosis, vasal responses and fibroplasia.
