Effect of Ethyl Acetate Extract of the Seeds of Semem Hoveniae against Alcoholism / 中国药房

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:To study on the effect of ethyl acetate extract of the seeds of Semem Hoveniae.against alcoholism.METHODESThe mice were divided into four groupsmodel group(i.g.normal saline),positive group(i.g.Haiwangjinzun 20 g?kg-1),low-dose group of ethyl acetate extract(i.g.ethyl acetate extract 10 g?kg-1),and high-dose group of ethyl acetate extract(i.g.ethyl acetate extract 20 g?kg-1).The effects of different extracts on serum SGPT activity,MDA content and ADH activity,GSH content and SOD activity in liver tissue of mice with acute alcoholism were determined.RESULTS:Serum SGPT activity and MDA content were down-regulated while ADH activity,GSH content and SOD activity in liver tissue of acute alcoholism mice were up-regulated by the ethyl acetate extract of the seeds of Hovenia Dulcis Thunb.CONCLUSION:The ethyl acetate extract of the seeds of Semem Hoveniae exhibited remarkable anti-alcoholism efficacy,and which is worthy of further study.
