Sheep Bone Morphogenetic Protein-induced Cartilage Development in Rat Muscle in Vitro / 第二军医大学学报

ABSTRACT

Sheep bone morphogenetic protein (sBMP) was chemically extracted from sheep bone matrix. When exogenous sheep BMP was introduced into 1640 culture medium at the concentrations of 1-50 ?g/ml, new cartilage developed inside the rat muscle during a 10-day latent period. With a mean rate of 52% of chondrogenesis new cartilage tissues developed in 80% of explants in the medium containing 10 ?g/ml of sBMP. The new method established in this experiment provides a useful model of tissue culture for making a progressive researching of bone inducing.
