ABSTRACT

In the view of the situation in China, some speculations and suggestions on the modernization of Chinese materia medica (CMM) are given in the present paper It is very important to select the available CMM at a low price and with the better effectiveness and lower toxicity, so as to set up a national CMM catalogue, and its prescription as well Headed by pharmaceutical enterprises, to study with a target of cultivating the main Chinese medicinal materials based on Good Agriculture Practice (GAP), guaranteeing the quality control, establishing the scheme of extraction coincident with Good Extracting Practice (GEP) based on the theory of traditional Chinese medicine To make the study on the more re liable of animal model of syndromes belonged to traditional Chinese medicine and to set up the platform for drug screening and mechanism study of CMM, the evaluating system of effect and toxicity for national laboratories and clinical trial of CMM should be developed according with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Clinic Practice (GCP)
