Quality standard for Pogostemon auricularius / 中成药

ABSTRACT

AIM To establish the quality standard for Pogonostemon auricularius (L.) Hassk..METHODS The original,characteristic and microscopic features of P.auricularius were identified,after which TLC was used for qualitative identification,HPLC was adopted in the content determination of verbascoside,and the contents of water,total ash,acid-insoluble ash,extract were determined by Chinese Pharmacopoeia methods.RESULTS The clear TLC plots displayed good reproducibility.Verbascoside showed a good linear relationship within the range of 0.102-2.04 μg (r =0.999 98),whose average recovery was 97.99％ with the RSD of 2.02％.In four-teen batches of samples,the content ranges of water,total ash,acid-insoluble ash,extract were 6.47％-12.07％,7.59％-12.35％,0.23％-3.55％,13.28％-26.82％,respectively.CONCLUSION This stable and reliable method can be used for the quality control of P.auricularius
