ABSTRACT
Coagulopathy is common in patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI). It is associated with the dysfunction of the normal clotting-anticoagulant-fibrinolytic system, with unknown pathogenesis. Recently a large number of studies have confirmed that the prognosis of TBI patients is closely related to coagulopathy of these patients at admission. Most prospective studies have also found that several coagulation abnormalities indicate poor prognosis. However, whether there is a cause and effect relationship between coagulopathy and prognosis of TBI patients, whether correcting abnormal coagulation parameters can improve the prognosis, all remain to be illuminated. Here we reviewed the related issue and hope to lay a foundation for future researches.
