Correlation of electronic fetal monitoring, amniotic fluid index and doppler velocimetry with cord pH in hypertensive pregnant women (a 3 year review at PCMC)

ABSTRACT

Forty-four hypertensive patients underewent electronic fetal monitoring, amniotic fluid index assessment and doppler velocimetry studies of the umbilical artery prior to delivery. Cord pH at birth of the babies were correlated with antepartum assessment. Forty five percent of the babies had a cord pH of less than 7.15 correlation of CTG with cord pH had a correlation coefficient of .0752. Amniotic fluid index with cord pH, correlation coefficient was .0344 and Doppler Velocimetry with cord pH, correlation coefficient was 0.024.
