Comunicação não verbal entre enfermeiro e idoso na consulta de enfermagem: uma análise à luz da teoria de Hall / Nonverbal communication between nurse and elderly in nursing consultation: a review in the light of Hall's theory

RESUMO

Introdução:A comunicação relaciona-se à transmissão e troca de mensagens entre os seres que interagem, contemplando toda existência humana. É estabelecida, em sua maior parte, pela linguagem não verbal, que corresponde ao uso inconsciente ou consciente das expressões corporais e faciais, complementando a linguagem verbal. Objetivo:Analisar a comunicação não verbal entre enfermeiros e idosos na consulta de enfermagem à luz do referencial teórico de Hall. Metodologia:Trata-se de um estudo exploratório descritivo com abordagem quantitativa, realizado por meio de filmagens das consultas de enfermagem realizadas em Unidades Básicas de Saúde do município de João Pessoa-Paraíba. Participaram 32 enfermeiros vinculados à Estratégia Saúde da Família, e 32 idosos atendidos pelos enfermeiros durante o período de coleta, que ocorreu de agosto a setembro de 2012. Fizeram partetambém com o estudo os especialistas em comunicação que validaram o instrumento para análise da comunicação não verbal segundo Hall e os juízes que analisaram as filmagens. Os dados foram processados no softwareestatístico PASW Statisticversão18 e analisados por meio de estatística descritiva e exploratória.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Communication takes place through the transmission and exchange of messages between interactants, which contemplates the whole human existence. It is established, in its most part, by the nonverbal language which corresponds to the unconscious or conscioususe of the corporal and physical expressions and it complements the verbal language. Objective: To analyze the nonverbal communication between nurses and the elderly in the nursing consultation based on the theory by Hall. Methodology: The research concerns a descriptive exploratory study and it has a quantitative approach. It took place through filmings of the nursing consultations which happened in Health Basic Units in João Pessoa, Paraíba, Brazil. 32 nurses took part of the process and they were linkedto the Family Health Strategy. Other 32 elderly consulted by these professionals also took part during the collection period, from August to September in 2012. Experts in communication also made part of the process and they validated the instrument for the analysis of the nonverbal communication according to Hall and the judges who analyzed the filmings. The data were processed in the PASW softwareversion 18. They were observed through descriptive and exploratory statistics.
