RESUMEN

RESUMEN Introducción: Actualmente se reconoce que variables psicosociales como el estrés, el apoyo social y la representación social de la enfermedad repercuten en los niveles de adherencia y control metabólico de los pacientes con diabetes mellitus. Objetivo: Determinar cómo se aborda en la bibliografía científica la repercusión de estas variables psicosociales en el paciente con diabetes mellitus y en el control de la enfermedad. Métodos: Se realizó una revisión documental, cuyo objeto de estudio fueron las investigaciones realizadas en torno a la representación social, el estrés y el apoyo social en pacientes con diabetes mellitus. Se estableció como criterio de búsqueda aquellos artículos académicos que trabajaran estas variables desde el 2016. Los sitios visitados fueron las bases de datos electrónicas EBSCO, PubMed, SciELO, Dialnet, ScienceDirect y Scopus y el Google Académico. Acorde a los criterios de inclusión y exclusión fueron citados un total de 47 artículos, de un número inicial de 92. Conclusiones: La representación inadecuada de la diabetes mellitus repercute en el estado emocional y la adherencia terapéutica de los pacientes que la padecen. De igual manera, la presencia de estrés y el pobre apoyo social afectan igualmente estas áreas y el control metabólico de la enfermedad. La revisión efectuada confirma que el control y el afrontamiento adecuado de la diabetes mellitus, requieren fortalecer las redes de apoyo social, adecuar la representación social de la enfermedad y manejar adecuadamente el estrés(AU)

ABSTRACT Introduction: Nowadays, it is admitted that psychosocial variables such as stress, social support and social representation of the disease affect the levels of adherence and metabolic control of patients with diabetes mellitus. Objective: To determine how is addressed in the scientific literature, the impact of these psychosocial variables in patients with diabetes mellitus and in the control of the disease. Methods: A documentary review, whose object of study were the investigations carried out on the social representation, stress and social support in patients with diabetes mellitus. It was established as the search criteria those academic articles that will work these variables from 2016. The web sites reviewed were the electronic databases EBSCO, PubMed, SciELO, Dialnet, ScienceDirect and Scopus, and Google Scholar. According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, there were quoted a total of 47 articles, of an initial number of 92. Conclusions: The inadequate representation of diabetes mellitus affects the emotional state and the therapeutic adherence of patients who suffer from it. In the same way, the presence of stress and poor social support also affect these areas and the metabolic control of the disease. The conducted review confirms that the proper control and coping with diabetes mellitus require strengthening social support networks, to adapt the social representation of the disease, and to properly manage stress(AU)
