El adolescente con cefalea en urgencias / Teenager with headache in emergency department

RESUMEN

RESUMEN Dado que la cefalea es un motivo de consulta frecuente a urgencias durante la edad pediátrica, en especial dentro del grupo de los adolescentes, es de vital importancia reconocer su etiología para poder hacer un abordaje más acertado. Por ello, es necesario conocer que la gran mayoría de las veces la cefalea se deberá a una causa primaria (migraña o cefalea de tipo tensión) o secundaria a procesos infecciosos triviales (infecciones respiratorias, urinarias o gastrointestinales) y en número reducido de casos será secundaria a procesos de mayor gravedad, los cuales tendrán que excluirse mediante un buen interrogatorio, exploración física y estudios complementarios para evitar que se ponga en riesgo la integridad del adolescente.

ABSTRACT

SUMMARY Headache is a reason for frequent consultation in the emergency department during the pediatric age, especially within the group of adolescents, it is vitally important to recognize its etiology in order to carry out a more accurate approach. For this reason, it is necessary to know, that the most on the times the headache will be due to a primary cause (migraine or tension-type headache) or secondary to trivial infectious processes (respiratory, urinary or gastrointestinal infections) and in a reduced number of cases it will be secondary more serious processes which should be excluded by means of a good interrogation, physical examination and complementary studies to avoid putting the integrity of the adolescent at risk.
