O papel docente em medicina: avaliação pelos estudantes

RESUMO

Resumo O autor relata um estudo das percepções de estudantes e mestrandos da área médica sobre funções e condutas especificas de ensino. Empregou-se a técnica do questionário, incluindo itens seletivos compilados da literatura especializada. Os resultados indicam que os participantes atribuem ampla importância a uma grande variedade de funções e condutas de ensino, mas demonstram preferência significativa por determinadas características, em termos da efetividade para a aprendizagem. Esse conjunto prioritário de condutas docentes representa cinco dimensões do ensino efetivo e pode constituir um indicador de proficiência docente. Outras implicações dos resultados são comentadas, em função de usos por estudantes e docentes.

ABSTRACT

Summary: The author reports a study of medical undergraduate and graduate students perceptions of teaching functions and specific. behaviors. Questionaries containing selected items compiled from special references were used. The results indicate that most respondents give large importance to many types of teaching functions and behaviors. However, there is a meaningful preference for some specific teaching characteristics that are found to be most helpful in facilitating student learning. Such priority set of teaching behaviors reflects five known dimensions of effective teaching and it could be considered as an indicator of teaching effectiveness. Other implications of the results for teacher and student uses are mentioned.
