O impacto da constipação intestinal funcional em crianças ­ uma análise através de desenhos / The impact of functional constipation in children ­ an analysis through drawings

RESUMO

Objetivo: Avaliar o impacto da constipação funcional crônica na vida de crianças e verificar a utilização de desenhos na construção da relação médico-paciente. Metodologia: Trata-se de estudo qualitativo, com pacientes entre oito e doze anos com critérios de Roma III para constipação funcional. Pediu-se que fizessem um desenho de sua vida com a doença e outro de como seria sem. Aos responsáveis solicitou-se que respondessem o questionário PedsQL. Resultados: Entrevistaram-se oito crianças. As principais queixas foram incapacidade de brincar, encoprese e escape fecal. Identificou-se nos desenhos insegurança, tristeza, isolamento e introspecção. As respostas dos responsáveis convergiram com os desenhos em temas como tristeza e medo, mas divergiram em acompanhar outras crianças em brincadeiras, capacidade de fazer as mesmas coisas que outras crianças e realizar atividades físicas. Conclusão: A doença afeta a vida das crianças, sendo difícil avaliar esse prejuízo. O desenho ajuda a entender esse sofrimento, melhorando a relação médico-paciente.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To evaluate the impact of chronic functional constipation on children's life and to check the importance of using drawingas a construction in a doctor-patient relationship. Method: It is a qualitative study, made with patients aged between eight and twelve years old using the criteria of Roma III to functional constipation. It was asked to make one draw that represents their life with the disease and another representing how it would be without it. To parents it was asked to answer the PedsQl questionnaire. Results and Discussion: Eight children were interviewed. The most of the complaints were inability to play, encopresis and soiling. In the drawings were identified feelings like insecurity, sadness, loneliness and introspection. The answers given by parents converge with drawings on issues like sadness and fear, but differed in playing with other children, doing the same thing that other children can do and performing physical activities. Conclusion: The disease affects children's life and it is hard to evaluate this injury. The drawing helps to understand this suffering, improving doctor-patient relationship.
