Crenças da família da criança com fibrose cística / Family beliefs of a child suffering from cystic fibrosis

RESUMO

O objetivo deste estudo foi compreender as crenças que sustentam a experiência da família da criança com fibrose cística (FC) a partir das interações vivenciadas na situação de doença do filho. Utilizou-se o Interacionismo Simbólico como o referencial teórico e, como referencial metodológico, a teoria fundamentada nos dados. Participaram do estudo oito famílias de crianças com FC atendidas em um ambulatório de especialidades de um hospital pediátrico. Através da análise dos dados, foi possível identificar três crenças que a família da criança com FC constrói a partir dos significados atribuídos às interações vivenciadas na situação de doença do filho "O cuidado é o único meio de afastar a morte do filho, "O cuidado da mãe pode espaçar as crises da doença e afastar a morte do filho" e "A cura pode ser descoberta logo". As crenças são componentes da experiência interacional da família, cujo papel é sustentar a experiência da criança com FC a partir de significados e diretrizes que determinam as ações implementadas pelas famílias.

ABSTRACT

The objective of this study was to understand the beliefs that give support to the experience lived by the family with a child suffering from Cystic Fibrosis (CF), by analyzing the interactions during the child's disease situation. The Symbolic Interactionism was used as theoretical framework, and as the methodological one, the grounded theory. The study was carried out by interviewing eight families with children suffering from CF, being treated at the ambulatorial service of a pediatric hospital. Data analysis enabled the identification of three beliefs that the family with a child suffering from CF constructs using the meanings attributed to the lived interactions during the child's disease "Caring is the only means to keep the child's death away"; "Mother's care may increase intervals between crises and keep the child's death away", "The cure may be discovered soon". Beliefs are parts of the family's interactional experience, whose role is to give support to the experience of the child suffering from CF, arising from meanings and decisions that determine the actions taken by the family.
