Situación actual de la prevención de la diabetes mellitus tipo 2 / Current situation of the prevention of type 2 diabetes mellitus

RESUMEN

RESUMEN Se revisan los aspectos de la diabetes mellitus tipo 2 (DM2) que pueden ser motivo de prevención, y permitan una disminución de la prevalencia y morbimortalidad por esta enfermedad en el momento actual. Estudio descriptivo, transversal, en el que se revisan los aspectos y métodos que previenen tanto el desarrollo de esta enfermedad, así como de sus manifestaciones crónicas, complicaciones agudas y morbilidades conexas. Se concluye que existen medidas preventivas que facilitan la disminución de la prevalencia y morbimortalidad de las personas con diabetes mellitus tipo 2.

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT Most of aspects of Diabetes Mellitus type 2 (DM2) subject to be prevented are reviewed, to low down the morbi-mortality of this disease under the current circumstances. In a descriptive, transversal study, the aspects and methods to prevent both the development of the disease as well as its chronic manifestations, acute complications and related morbidities are described. It is concluded that effective measures and methods to diminish the prevalence and morbi-mortality of type 2 diabetes mellitus are available under the current circumstances.
