Compreendendo a relação de adolescentes, em cuidados paliativos, com o ciberespaço / Understanding the relationship between adolescents, in palliative care, with the cyberspace

RESUMO

Este estudo teve como objetivos: compreender a experiência dos adolescentes, em cuidados paliativos, com o ciberespaço; explorar os conteúdos postados/ utilizados na rede social; e compreender as práticas online e os significados atribuídos ao ciberespaço, pelos adolescentes em cuidados paliativos. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa orientada pelo Interacionismo Simbólico, enquanto referencial teórico, e por uma abordagem multimétodo, em que foram utilizadas a Etnografia e a Netnografia como referenciais metodológicos. O estudo foi realizado em dois ambientes, o online e o off-line. O ambiente off-line compreende em um ambulatório multiprofissional de cuidados paliativos pediátricos; e o ambiente online, na rede social mais utilizada pelos adolescentes, o Facebook. Participaram da pesquisa 10 adolescentes em cuidados paliativos, e os dados foram obtidos por meio da observação participante (nos ambientes online e off-line) e por entrevistas face a face. A observação participante no Facebook consistiu em analisar e contabilizar todas as postagens realizadas pelos participantes. Ao todo, 8861 postagens foram contabilizadas. Após a análise dos dados, foram identificadas duas categorias centrais, "O ciberespaço pra mim..." e "Minha vida online". Essas categorias evidenciam, respectivamente, os significados atribuídos ao ciberespaço e as ações e práticas dos adolescentes, em cuidados paliativos, nesse ambiente. A relação constituída entre os adolescentes, em cuidados paliativos, e o ciberespaço é representada por suas interações nesse ambiente. Os adolescentes estabelecem interações com outras pessoas, com os ambientes - o online e o off-line - e também com eles próprios. Essas interações são resultado das ações e práticas online dos e são influenciadas pelos significados atribuídos por eles ao ciberespaço.

ABSTRACT

The aims of this study were to understand the experience of adolescents, in palliative care, in the cyberspace; to explore posted/consumed contents in social network; and to understand online practices and cyberspace meanings for adolescents in palliative care. This is a qualitative research guided by the Symbolic Interactionism, as theoretical framework, and by a multimethods approach, in which was used Ethnography and Netnography as methodological frameworks. The study was led in two environments, online and offline. The offline environment comprises a multidisciplinary pediatric palliative care clinic; and the online, a social network used by adolescents, Facebook. Ten adolescents in palliative care participated in this research, and data were collected from participant observation (in online and offline environments) and face-to-face interviewing. Participant observation on Facebook consisted to analyze and account all participants posts. Altogether, 8861 posts were accounted for. After data analysis, two main categories were identified," Cyberspace for Me..." and "My Life Online". These categories show, respectively, the meanings of cyberspace and the actions and practices of adolescents, in palliative care, in this environment. The relationship created between adolescents, in palliative care, with the cyberspace is represented by their interactions in this environment. Adolescents establish interactions with other people, with environments - the online and the offline - and with themselves. These interactions are the result of adolescents' online actions and practices, and are influenced by the meanings they awarded to the cyberspace.
