Síndrome de disfunción orgánica múltiple en pediatría / The Multiorganic dysfunction syndrome in pediatric population

RESUMEN

El síndrome de disfunción orgánica múltiple (SDOM) es la principal causa de mortalidad en los niños con padecimientos graves. No existe literatura en español que analice en su totalidad al síndrome. Las unidades de cuidado intensivo pediátrico y neonatal que reportan morbilidad y mortalidad bajas deben este resultado al diagnóstico precoz y tratamiento oportuno del SDOM. Se analizan las causas, patogenia y terapéutica, buscando que el pediatra lo conozca e instaure las medidas apropiadas evitando su presentación.

ABSTRACT

The Multiorganic Dysfunction Syndrome is the main cause of mortality among children with serious illnesses. We lack the medical literature in Spanish regarding this Syndrome. The low morbidity and mortality reported by Pediatric and Neonatal intensive care units are due, basically to an early diagnosis. We analyze the causes, the pathogenesis and therapeutically goals that are followed by pediatricians, in order for them to know and take the appropriate measurements to prevent the development of the Syndrome.
