ABSTRACT
This paper aims to reflect about the frequency and the establishment of the contract in psychoanalytic psychotherapy with borderline patients. This work is based on the psychotherapy of a 20-year-old patient with this diagnosis. Due to the difficulty in symbolization, and emotional and bonding instability of these patients, changes in the psychoanalytical technique involving contract management and frequency are required. However, a contract 'along the lines of neurosis' is often kept. We believe that the therapist needs to maintain the contract in his mind until the patient can tolerate it, like the mother who holds the real time inside her until the baby can handle it.(AU)
