Corpo e envelhecimento: um estudo de caso em universidade aberta à terceira idade / Body and age ing: a case study at an open university program for senior citzens

RESUMO

A Universidade Aberta à Terceira Idade (UNATI) tem sido uma forma de trabalhar o processo educativo com idosos. O objetivo deste texto é discutir o desenvolvimento da disciplina Corpo e Envelhecimento em uma UNATI. A metodologia adotada foi um estudo de caso descritivo com características da pesquisa-ação. Os resultados mostram que os idosos apresentam o corpo predominantemente por seus aspectos negativos (61,11%) e, entendem que o corpo ideal deve ser Jovem (27,78%), Saudável (16,67%), Feliz (11,11%) e Produtivo (11,11%). A conclusão indica que as aulas de Corpo e Envelhecimento realizadas na UNATI, não conseguiram alterar as concepções de corpo apresentadas pelos idosos inicialmente.

ABSTRACT

The Open University Program for Senior Citizens (UNATI) has been a way to work the educative process with elderly people. The aim of this text is to discuss the development of the discipline Body and Aging in a UNATI. The adopted Methodology was a descriptive case study which has the action research characteristics. Data collected show that elderly people presents the body predominantly by negative aspects (61, 11%) and, they understand the ideal body must be young (27, 78%), healthy (16, 67%), happy (11, 11%) and prolific (11, 11%). The conclusion indicates that Body and Aging classes realized in the UNATI, failed to alter the body conceptions presented by the elderly first.
