Maus-tratos a idosos: relato de casos e comentários sobre as intervenções médicas / Elderly mistreatment: case reports and commentaries about medical aproachs

RESUMO

Os maus-tratos a idosos representam um grave problema. Com o envelhecimento populacional, a tendência será um aumento no número de novos casos. Além das dificuldades relacionadas à identificação dos maus-tratos contra idosos, observa-se que, muitas vezes, o manejo dos pacientes associado a uma intervenção efetiva para modificar essa situação não tem sido corretamente implementado. Aqui, são relatados três casos de maus-tratos a idosos vivenciados em nosso serviço. É descrita a necessidade de individualização das condutas terapêuticas para cada caso (AU)

ABSTRACT

Elderly mistreatment is a serious dilemma. With the populational aging, the tendency will be an increasing in the number of new cases. Besides the dificulties related to the identification of elderly mistreatment, it has frequently been observed that the patient's management associated to an effective intervention has not correctly been performed in order to change this situation. Here, are reported three cases of elderly mistreatment that we experienced in our institution. It is described the necessity to individualize the therapeutic approach for each single case (AU)
