Pyeloplasty: 8 years experience at Lahore and Larkana, Pakistan

ABSTRACT
To determine the subjective and objective improvement in signs and symptoms following pyeloplasty and determine complications of pyeloplasty. One hundred patients having obstruction at pelviureteric junction [PUJ Obstruction] underwent pyeloplasty to trelieve obstruction at Department of Urology Services Hospital Lahore and Chandka Medical College and Teaching Hospital Larkana. Of 100 patients, 70 were males and 30 females. The ages of the patients ranged from 5 to 55 years. The presenting features were abdominal pain in 75 cases, abdominal mass in16, urinary tract infection in 5, and in 4 cases it was detected incidentally. The cause of obstruction was narrow PUJ in 63 patients, high insertion in 16, ureteric stricture in 1 and crossing vessels in 20 patients. Post operatively all patients improved symptomatically and objectively. Pyeloplasty is a safe and effective surgery for relieving obstructive urological symptoms in our patients
