ABSTRACT
In our study we examined 25 patients with tuberculoid leprosy and 22 patients with borderline leprosy in comparison to 10 healthy individuals. We studied the effect of opsonins in the process of phagocytosis in tuberculoid leprosy group and in borderline group and we compared our results to be healthy group. At first, we examined the process of phagocytosis in the absence of opsonins, then we examined this process in presence of opsonins. We used staphylococcus albus in addition to cells of patients [monocytes and lymphocytes] then we examined the process of phagocytosis which is diminished in these patients [tuberculoid and borderline groups] while after additon of the serum of patients i.e opsonins. We found that the process of phagocytosis is increased i.e. opsonins enhances phagocytic activity, but it is still diminished if compared to the healthy group of individuals
