ABSTRACT
Serum iron, total iron-binding capacity [TIBC], unsaturated iron- binding capacity [UIBC or LIBC], and transferrin saturation% were measured in male rabbits administered Praziquantel drug [biltricide] by a dose of 4 mg/100 g life body weight. The data obtained of serum iron were significantly increased 2 and 24 hours following oral administration of the drug, whereas at 48 hours serum iron level was nonsignificantly decreased. TIBC showed similar results as serum iron but the increase was nonsignificant at 2 and 24 hours after drug administration, while at 48 hours after drug receiving TIBC showed a significant decrease. The later iron-binding capacity [LIBC] or [HIPC] revealed a nonsignificant drop, followed by a nonsignificant increase at 2 at 24 hours after drug administration, respectively. But UIBC level was decreased significantly 48 hours after drug receiving. The transferrin saturation% was increased at all periods which were 32.46%, 24.10% and 24.25% at 2, 24 and 48 hours, respectively
