Hirschsprung's disease review of the subject and report of 31 cases

ABSTRACT
In the period from 1958 till 1965, 31 cases of Hirschsprung's disease were admitted in the Pediatric Surgical Unit. It is the aim of this paper to present the clinical presentation, methods of diagnosis, surgical treatment and the complications met with in dealing with these cases. The various aspects of Hirschsprung's disease had been discussed. A reports of 31 cases, treated in the pediatric surgical unit during the period from 1958-1965 is given. Six cases were treated by Swenson operation, 24 cases by Rehbein's operation and one by Duhamells operation. Swenson operation carried a high mortality in our series. Anterior resection following Rehbein's technique is safe and gives equally good results with low morbidity and mortality
