ABSTRACT
Evoked potentials [visual, auditory and somatosensory] were obtained after stimulation of eighteen patients suffering from pseudotumor cerebri and ten control subjects. The patients were subjected to full clinical, neurological examination, EEG, CAT-scan and the three modalities of the evoked potentials. The duration of response after visual stimulation was higher in the six patients examined after treatment [corticosteroids, diuretics, acetazolamide and lumbar puncture] than those before treatment [p=0.009] as well as higher in the group examined after treatment than control [p=0.0007]. In brain stem evoked potentials, the mean latency of wave I and the mean amplitude of wave V was higher in the control group than those examined before treatment. Also, the mean latencies of interpeak I-III and I-V were higher in patients examined before treatment than in the control. No statistically significant correlation coefficient was recorded between the different parameters, EEG, visual field and sex
