Use of scanning electron microscopy in examination of seminal Stains

ABSTRACT

Samples of normal healthy human semen were obtained from venereal clinic in Assiut University Hospital. They were droped on different types of fabrics; paper, wood and glass objects of both light and dark colours. They were examined by Scanning electron microscopy [SEM] Joul T 200 in the unit of electron microscope Assiut University, at different periods after dropping from one day up to 13 months. From the results obtained in this study, it was concluded that this method for examination of seminal stain is a reliable, very rapid and simple technique for routine examination in cases of rape and other sexual offences to detect sperms in clothes and objects in he scence of the crime
