ABSTRACT
The first eighteen months of the Hospital Quality Assurance Programme at the Bahrain Defence Force Hospital are described, including the goals of the programme, problems encountered and future plans. The increasing use of litigation in Bahrain to solve problems related to patient care presents a strong stimulus to support such a hospital Q.A. programme with its emphasis on thorough and accurate documentation in the patient files, as well as hospital monitoring activities which promote quality patient care
