ABSTRACT
To determine the commonest type of uterine cervix lesion and at which level are the women with uterine cervix cancer diagnosed. This is a retrospective study of 325 patients admitted in Al Wahda and Aden Teaching Hospitals with uterine cervix lesion during the period of 9 years, from January 1996 to January 2005. Records of patients who had histopathology result of punch biopsy of the uterine cervix were retrospectively reviewed. Inflammation is most common and it is present in all age groups representing 46.1°/o. And those associated with morphological changes of flat condyloma are 6.1% of the cases. Cervical intraepithelial neoplastic [CIN] represents 5.5% and predominant between 30.39 years. While Invasive carcinoma is more frequent in older women at 50 years and above is 16.346. No case of invasive carcinoma detected below 40 years. Endocervical polyp is 269bof cases from the total. The results of this study concluded that inflammation is the most frequent disease and the majority- of women with uterine cervix cancer was diagnosed in invasive stage and only few with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia stage
