ABSTRACT
A total of 33 Yemeni patients with hepatoma were surveyed with a view to determine the presence of viral hepatitis B markers [HBsAg and HBcAb] using commercial enzyme immunoassay technique. Most of patients were male over 40 years old, and the majority were from rural areas. 72.7% of our lot was found to have markers of hepatitis B virus infection, which is a significantly high rate than the rate of 10% observed in Ilia symptomatic volunteers, exhibited a high level of contamination with hepatitis B virus and indicate the impact of hepatitis B virus in evolution of hepatocellular carcinoma in Yemen
