ABSTRACT

Objectives:

Obesity is a common disorder that has a significant impact on morbidity and mortality. Twin and adoption studies support the genetic influence on variation of obesity, and the estimates of the heritability of body mass index [BMI] is significantly high [30 to 70%]. Variants in the fat mass and obesity-associated [FTO] gene have been associated with obesity and obesity-related phenotypes in different populations.
