ABSTRACT
Between 1983 and 1987, we have treated 45 cases of osteogenesis imperfecta in the New Children's Hospital, Cairo University. The youngest patient was one week old and the oldest was 12 years old. 15 patients presented with acute fractures of their long bones and were treated by light and functional bracing. 35 patients had deformities of the limbs and trunk; the most frequent was anterolateral bowing of the femur. Multiple osteotomies, realignment and nonelongating intramedullary rodding was performed in 20 patients. All bones united and there was no infection. Few hardware complications were encountered. Certain anaesthetic difficulties were reported in OI patients
