Percutaneous kidney stone manipulation in the E.S.W.L. era

ABSTRACT
Two hundred and fifty patients underwent one stage percutaneous nephrolithotripsy over three years period. The patient's age ranged from 18 to 53 years. There were 27.6% females 18.8% of the patients had recurrent renal stones. The procedure was done under general anaethesia. Access to the kiedny was made under guidance of one plane fluoroscopy. The success rate of stone removal reached 98%. Complications were few, only 1.2%. The details of the procedure, results are discussed. The high success rate, together with lower cost places percutaneus nephrolithotripsy in a good position in the era of ESWL specially in developing countries
