ABSTRACT
Fifty-five patients of active keratitis, contact lens wearers, corneal opacities prepared for keratoplasty, and 20 controls were involved in this study. All cases were subjected to ophthalmological and laboratory investigations. In some cases of corneal biopsy histopathological investigations were applied. This was aimed for detection of acanthamoeba as a causative pathogen for keratitis among the Egyptian patients. Results demonstrated no evidence of acanthamoeba in the examined samples except infiltration with inflammatory cells on histopathological examination of the corneal tissues of 5 cases
