Endometrial biopsy in infertility: a study of 777 patients

ABSTRACT
endometrial biopsies of 777 infertile women were included in this study. Five hundred and eighty patients were complaining of primary infertility [PI] and 197 of secondary infertility [SI]. Failure of ovulation was a primary cause of infertility. it was more prevalent in primary infertility than in secondary infertility patients, more common in younger age groups [85.4% versus 75%]. Luteal phase insufficiency [LPI] as assessed histopathologically was relatively more common in older patients with [SI] Than with [PI]. Abnormal endometrium and non specific endometritis was found in 36 patients including 8 tuberculous endometritis, this study emphasizes the impor-in patients with SI increasing with age from about 17% at 20-24 years up to more the 40% in patients over 40 years, however LPI was also noticed in patients with PI. though less common [p
