ABSTRACT
The aim of this work was to study the maternal perception of sound provoked fetal movement in patients undergoing cesarean section and compared the results with the modified biophysical profile and the arterial cord blood pH immediately after delivery. This work was completed in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Radiology during the period from June 1992 to June 1993. Thirty five cases were the material of this study, they were scheduled for elective cesarean section past 34 completed weeks with intact amniotic sac. The results of this study showed that the maternal perception of sound provoked fetal movement was positive in 94.3% and negative in 5.7% of cases. The maternal perception of sound provoked fetal movement correlated well to fetal outcome and was found to be complementary to the modified biophysical profile
