Evaluation of laser therapy in the treatment of low back pain

ABSTRACT

Law back pain [LBP] is a widespread and costly condition that tends to recure. So treatment must focus on both the amelioration of acute symptoms and prevention over the long term. Laser therapy has been suggested as an effective modality in the treatment of acute and chronic painful syndromes. The aim of this work was to study the possible role which can be a played by laser in the management of LBP. This work was conducted on 40 patients suffering from LBP of different etiology and divided in two groups. One group treated with laser therapy and static exercises and placebo laser therapy [machine not working]. The first group showed significant improvement of pain. Tenderness and ROM. So it was concluded that laser therapy offers a new physical modality in the treatment of LBP
