ABSTRACT
The aerial parts of Centaurea calcitrapa L. afforded a new aromatic dimer, alpha-[4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl]-beta-[1'-[5'-[gamma'- hydroxypropyl]]-2'-hydroxy-3'-methoxyphenyl] propanol [1], and the elemanolide [II] obtained for the first time from Egyptian Centaurea species. The structures of the isolated compounds were assessed by spectral analysis:
