ABSTRACT
37 patients with metacarpal fracture were treated by open reduction and internal fixation by using miniplate, screws and Kirschener wire. All of the patients were males and the age ranged from 20-50 years old. 11 cases of fractures were oblique, 8 cases were spiral, 5 cases were comminuted and 13 cases were transverse. The fracture was reduced and internally fixed with miniplate in 31 cases and 8 cases were fixed by screw, only 3 of them fixed by screw and Kirschner wire. The results were assessed clinically and radiologically according to Barton 1979. Excellent results recorded in 23 cases [62.2%], good results were in 11 cases [29.17%] and fair results were in 3 cases [8.0%]
