ABSTRACT
The new-born infection remains frequent and serious. In order to codify the diagnosis and the antibiotherapy indications, the authors propose a diagnostic score. The score, based on anamnestic, clinical and paraclinical criteria, is evaluated through a prospective study on 65 new-borns, hospitalised in the intensive care unit of the Casablanca children's hospital, and which were suspected of new-born infection. The diagnostic score proved to be unreliable. The anamnestic criteria used weren't significantly correlated to the new-born infection. The clinical arguments were of good diagnostic value. Among the biological arguments, the CRP [C reactive protein] results analysis has shown a high rate of negative falses for technical problems reasons. So, the authors propose a decisionnal schema for the diagnosis and the initial behaviour in case of new-born infection suspicion. They also stress on the necessary rigorous clinical supervision and a complete and well interpreted paraclinical check-up
