ABSTRACT
The pluronics F-68, F-88, F-108 and F-127, and Plyvinylpyrrolidone K30 and K90 were tested for their ability to cause cell fusion. These polymers exhibited strong fusion of erythrocytes which took place almost instantaneously. Cell fusion occurred efficiently at polymers concentrations of 5%, decreased significantly at 2.5% and not induce fusion of ertyhrocytes hence suggesting what viscosity per se is not solely responsible for the observed cell fusion. The fusion process by pluronics and polyvinylpyrrolidones was not affected by rise in temperature from ambient to 37°C
