ABSTRACT
Diverticulae of bladder in neonates and children were often reported to be asymptomatic and rarely resulted in complications. Five children and one neonate presented with symptoms and signs of infravesical obstruction up to acute retention in neonate. On voiding cystourethrography, all were found to have large bladder diverticulae which descend and compress the posterior urethra on attempted voiding. Bilateral vesicoureteric reflux was also present in one child and unilateral reflux in the other four. In the neonate, ipsilateral ureteric obstruction and hydronephrosis was also present. They were managed by diverticulectomy with submucous implantation of refluxing ureters. It is concluded that congenital diverticulae of the bladder can cause obstruction, therefore, they require early radiologic diagnosis and surgical correction
