ABSTRACT
This experiment shows the effect of milk and albumin of eggs on caustic burns of the oesophagus without any medical or surgical interference to avoid masking of the effect of milk and albumin on caustic burns. Twenty four [24] rabbits were included in this work, divided into 4 major groups one control three treated. They are further subdivided into twelve [12] subgroups depending on survival time and type of treatment [milk only, egg only or milk and egg]. The ingestion of milk and/or egg albumin diminished the local inflammatory reactions and granulations in they were given immediately after caustic ingestion. All control animals living over 3 weeks had stricture formation. No stricture was found in treated groups. The best results were found in the treated groups with milk and egg albumin together. So it is advisable to give a mixture of milk and egg albumin immediately to any child suspected to have ingested caustic
