ABSTRACT
Renal involvement is very common in systemic lupus erythromatosus. Accordingly, it is important to detect the occurrence of glomerular injury at an early stage and to minimise the risk of renal failure, which remains the leading cause of death. Percutaneous renal biopsies from 21 patients with systemic lupus erythromatosus were subjected to both light and immuno fluorescent microscopy. A good correlation between renal pathology and clinical data was detected. Accordingly, the combination of immunofluorescent, light microscopy and clinical data could be used to determine the progression of the disease and choice of appropriate therapy
