Clinical study of 300 cases of circulage operation for habitual abortion caused by cervical incompetence

ABSTRACT
A total of 300 cervical circulage operations were performed on 250 patients, at Al Jamahiria Hospital, Benghazi, Libya, during the period between January 1976 and December 1981. These 300 operations resulted in 255 live births and 45 failures,. The preoperative total salvage rate in 1760 pregnancies in this group of patients was 35%, and the postoperative salvage rate including surviving premature deliveries was 85%. When the suture was inserted ofter 18 weeks of gestation, the failure rate was 40.5%, compared to 13.5% in patients sutured before 18 weeks gestation. No significant complications occurred from this circulage operation. Operations done between 12-18 weeks of gestation, gave the best
