ABSTRACT
A case of extraskeletal osteosarcoma in the thigh of a 45 year old male is reported. The tumour was found to have evoluted from a focus of metaplastic ossification in the lipoma which had existed for about 10 years. There are very limited acceptable reports for the development of extraskeletal osteosarcoma from metaplastic bone in the soft tissues. Possible sequence of events leading to the development of soft tissue osteosarcoma in the present case are suggested
