ABSTRACT
This study included forty hemodialysis patients aiming at identifying the main stressors experienced by those patients and the effect of counseling on their reduction. The patients sociodemographic and medical data were collected using an interview schedule. A hemodialysis stressor scale was developed to assess the patients stressors before initiating and after completing a counseling intervention [one hour twice weekly for one month]. The findings have revealed that counseling was effective in reducing all of the physiological stressors and most of the psychosocial ones except social relation, cost factor and job interferences
