ABSTRACT
This work aimed to evaluate the results of repainting neglected Achilles tendon rupture in seven patients using the V-Y lengthening plasty and end to end or end to bone repair using the multiple-strand sutures technique. The average age of the patients was 44 years with five of them over weight by more than 10 kg compared to the average. The average period between the injury and repair was 14 weeks [range 10-21 weeks]. The average size of the gape was 6 cm [range 5-7.5 cm]. Three cases had got the tendon avulsed from the bone and four had tendon substance tears. The V-Y lengthening was performed in all of them and then the ends by four stand sutures were repaired. The patients were followed up for an average of 26 weeks [range 18-38 weeks]. The study achieved either excellent or good results with no fair or poor results and no serious complications or re-rupture of the tendon were reported. All the patients were able to return back to the pre-injury level of activity
